Myo-Functional Treatment is a therapy that can help correct improper functioning of the facial muscles and tongue, using a combination of special exercises and appliances to help modify oral habits. We might suggest using this treatment if your child has problems such as tongue thrusting, thumb sucking or lip licking or swallowing, or if they have speech problems or trouble breathing freely through their nose.

Early Orthodontics
At an early stage, your child’s teeth and jaws are still developing, but their growth is sufficiently advanced so our dentist can detect any problems that are currently present, or which can potentially develop in the future. This will enable us to formulate a treatment plan that can offer optimal results.
Early treatment can allow us to take advantage of growth spurts to guide the jaws into the correct shape. Often this will involve widening an upper jaw that may have become elongated and narrow due to thumb or finger sucking. As your child grows, they will have sufficient room for their adult teeth to come through without these teeth being overcrowded or overlapping.
Often orthodontics will take place in two phases, with the first phase being carried out between the ages of seven and ten, while the second phase of treatment will take place when your child has all their adult teeth present in the mouth.

Retention after Orthodontic Treatments
You will need to wear a retainer for a while after your braces are removed, but there is no need to worry as we can ensure they are virtually invisible and often only need to be worn overnight or for just a short while each day.
Retainers are essential for preventing your teeth from drifting back towards their original positions and are worn just until your teeth have settled down after treatment.
