Do Young People Get Dentures?

When you think about dentures, you probably think about an older demographic. While it’s unlikely you associate dentures with young people, the fact is that dentures can be an effective and recommended treatment option for people under the age of 70.

In this article, we’re looking at why dentures may be recommended for younger people and how they can help you achieve a better smile.

Why would young people need to wear dentures?

While nobody plans on having dentures at a young age, if you’ve lost teeth for any reason, dentures are one of the ways you can fill in the gaps.

Denture plates are set with ceramic or acrylic teeth which are made to look just like your own teeth. You may only need partial dentures if you’re missing one or two teeth, while a full set of dentures may be required to replace multiple lost teeth.

Aside from improving your appearance, dentures can help to reinstate your jaw function and help you eat more effectively. They’re designed to be removed while sleeping and need to be cleaned, just like your regular teeth, so they don’t stain or encourage bacteria development in your mouth.

What are my options for replacing missing teeth?

If you’ve lost one or more teeth or need to have teeth removed, there are a range of options aside from dentures to help you fill in the gaps and maintain your smile. These treatment options include dental bridges and dental implants, both of which aren’t removable and are permanent if properly cared for.

Temporary dentures may also be used if you’ve undergone jawbone surgery and need to wait to have your implants fitted.
